Gregory
Sawin, MD, MPH, named Director
of Tufts
FMR Program
Malden, MA…Congratulations
to Greg Sawin MD, MPH, who has been named Program Director of the
Tufts Family Medicine Residency at Cambridge Health Alliance, effective
January 4, 2010. His appointment comes after a four month national
search.
Greg joined
CHA in 2007 at Malden as an Assistant Professor and Director of
Information Mastery. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Morehouse
School of Medicine where he received the student Presidential Leadership
award. He did his Family Medicine Residency and Faculty Development
Fellowship at University of Virginia, where he was also chosen to
be Chief Resident.
His areas of
interest include creation of a Patient Centered Medical Home, Information
Mastery, Technology and Systems Based Practice, Quality Improvement,
Graduate and Post Graduate Medical Education, International and
Domestic Health Care Disparities, and Community Medicine.
Known as a "brilliant
teacher," Greg received the Outstanding Resident Teaching Award
from our Tufts Family Medicine Residency graduating class in 2008.
he was also recognized as a national "Emerging Leader"
by the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Northeast in the fall
of 2009.
According to
Randy Wertheimer, CHA Chief of Family Medicine, and the Jaharis
Family Chair of Family Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine,
"Greg will continue the same standards of excellence that have
made our residency a top tier national training program."
