FAMILY MEDICINE AT CAMBRIDGE HEALTH ALLIANCE
Introduction
Cambridge Health Alliance is a nationally recognized, award-winning
public health system which serves Cambridge, Somerville, and the
communities north of Boston, MA. We care for all those in need and
are an integral part of the communities in which we provide care.
Over the past five years, both primary care volumes and maternity
have grown dramatically and family medicine is a key part of this
growth. The family medicine group now consists of 20 employed physicians,
8 affiliated physicians in the community, and 5 family nurse practitioners.
Staff members are active in the Massachusetts Academy of Family
Physicians, and two core staff physicians have served as past presidents
of this important statewide group.
System of Care
Cambridge Health Alliance is a regional health system with three
community hospital campuses - The Cambridge Hospital, Somerville
Hospital, and Whidden Memorial Hospital - and more than 20 primary
care and specialty practices. The Alliance offers a wide variety
of patient care services and is currently expanding to new communities
while making important investments and infrastructure improvements
in its existing sites.
As primary care is a strength of the system, residents will find
that an environment that truly values their contributions and an
active practice support network.
All family medicine sites have family medicine physicians with
a strong interest in women's health and maternity care, with a high
volume of deliveries at the new maternity suite at The Cambridge
Hospital campus.
