OFFICE OF THE DEAN FOR PUBLIC HEALTH AND PROFESSIONAL DEGREE
PROGRAMS
Dear Future Family Physician:
It is with pride and enthusiasm that we welcome you to the Tufts
University Family Medicine Residency at Cambridge Health Alliance.
We believe that our program represents the best of all worlds:
A solid, community-based hospital system--Cambridge Health Alliance
A world-class academic medical center--Tufts - New England Medical
Center
A medical school with a tradition of excellence for more than 100
years--Tufts University School of Medicine.
Our community-based setting, only six miles north of the Tufts/New
England Medical Center campus, provides easy faculty and resident
exchange and interaction, along with teleconferencing, to offer
a fully integrated training program.
As one of our family medicine residents, you will train in a community
family health center and hospital as well as at the Tufts - New
England Medical Center and the Boston Floating Hospital for Children.
You will be given the opportunity to do a community medicine project
and/or a research project and we urge you to take advantage of this
opportunity. You also will serve as a role model for our Tufts University
School of Medicine students during their family medicine clerkship.
As a graduate of our program, you will be a complete family physician--an
excellent clinician with experience in both teaching and clinical
research.
Tufts University School of Medicine has a long history of training
community-based physicians. The Tufts University Family Medicine
Residency represents yet another major accomplishment in our goal
both to train family physicians to practice in the community and
to enhance the academic development of the discipline. We are committed
to making our family medicine residency one of the nation's best
programs and look forward to having you join us as we work together
towards that end.
