An active and collaborative research environment

CHA values research as the foundation for improving the quality of care. Much current research involves health policy, the evaluation of health services, disparities in care and quality improvements, as well as clinical trials.

Division on Addiction
Working to alleviate addiction-related social, medical, and economic burdens through research, education, training, and outreach.

Health Equity Research Lab
Conducting research to improve physical and mental health in diverse communities. This includes: 1) developing and evaluating interventions to reduce health disparities; 2) identifying mehanisms and factors of resiliency underlying health in the face of social and economic adversity; 3) fostering collaboration among researchers, clinicians, and community members, and 4) training junior investigators to produce actionable research.

Cambridge Health Justice Lab
Deploying data analytics to reveal health and social policies that undermine health and health equity, supporting evidence-based advocacy for the structural changes needed to achieve a healthier and more equal society and health care system, and helping train the next generation of physician-researchers committed to health care justice.

Center for Health Equity Education and Advocacy (CHEEA)
An educational initiative that seeks to better equip healthcare professionals to be change agents in our healthcare system and society.

Bringing together clinicians and researchers who are dedicated to research and training to improve the quality of care for children with mental health needs.

Center for Mindfulness & Compassion
Enhancing health and well-being by integrating mindfulness and compassion into healthcare and our communities with a commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and diversity. Activities include research, training and clinical care.

Family Studies Lab
Conducting translational research to better understand the contributions of early relational risk, trauma, and genetic factors to social adaptation in infancy, childhood, and adolescence.

Institute for Community Health
A nonprofit consulting organization that provides participatory evaluation, applied research, assessment, planning, and data services. ICH helps healthcare institutions, government agencies, and community-based organizations improve their services and maximize program impact.

Supplement Research Program
The Supplement Research Program, led by Pieter Cohen, MD, has become the leading voice on supplement safety in the United States. Over the past 15 years, Dr. Cohen has investigated the novel, experimental and surprising ingredients in dietary supplements.
